Another Sketch & MORE Goodies!

There's a Wednesday sketch over on Splitcoast I decided to use for this card. I don't normally like to use a panel set at an angle ~ they just always look 'off' to me ... but I went with it, that's why it's called 'challenge', right? LOL. Anyway, all my new goodies are burning a hole on my desk so I HAD to make something else!!! Love this new set "Storybook Friends", reminds me of my childhood books ... see the new little tiny punch with the 'love' word in it? And the new edgelit? Gorgeous, aren't they?

Stamps : Storybook Friends, Lovely Little Labels
Cardstock : Shimmery White, Cajun Craze, Storytime DSP

Accessories : Curly Label & Little Labels Punches, Cherry Cobbler Ribbon, Finishing Touches Edgelit, Big Shot

A Sketch & New Goodies

Here's the sketch from this week's 'Freshly Made Sketches' blog. Love this one. I wanted to showcase some new products from Stampin' Up. I chose to use the 'World Spectacular' suite of products. Aren't they gorgeous? I love the vintage feel of them. I'll let the photos do the talking. Look out for new 'In Colours', new DSP, new Ribbon, new edgelit, new punches ....

Grad Cap

I've had quite a few questions asking how I made my owl grad cap. Here are a couple of pics to show you.

You will need a Pennant Builder Punch and a 3/4" Circle Punch. Punch out the straight edge triangle from the Pennant Punch and mark a centre-point on all sides. Punch the circle and trim a crescent shape from the bottom. See pic below for guidance.
Now glue the cap top onto the circle and your grad cap will look like this!
I usually add it to the card on a dimensional for more visual effect. If you add wings to your owl, he looks like he's tossing the cap into the air. Of course, this cap would look great with a tassel. I couldn't find one small enough and couldn't make one to look good, so I left it blank. Either way, it's a great way to add a cap to your owl.

Happiness to YOU Auntie Sal

Here's this week's Clean & Simple layout. Isn't it great? I wanted to make a card for a special lady, Auntie Sal. She's my dad's baby sister and I was born a few hours after her 20th birthday. So close to having the same birthday!!! If I HAD arrived on her birthday, it would have been 6/6/66. Yikes! Anyway, I'm so proud of Auntie Sal, she's had a rough couple of years and has come through it SHINING. I will be seeing her when I go home in June and I can't wait to give her a big squeeze, Happy Birthday Auntie Sal. Love you!

Here's my card. The layout is pretty much identical to the sketch. I used the hearts embosslits with some of the patterns pack paper. Just a touch of baker's twine and some rhinestones so it's very Clean & Simple! Just how I like it! I jazzed it up a little with the polka dot embossing folder and added some interest by popping some of those hearts up. You can see better in the 2nd pic.
